PROJECT SUMMARY: Next Design was tasked with designing a new campus in West Oahu for Hale Kipa to consolidate their operations and facilities on that side of the island.

Throughout the design the team focused on realizing Hale Kipa’s mission to provide opportunities and environments that strengthen and encourage youth, their families and communities to actualize their potential and social responsibility. Through the building forms and siting the design focuses on promoting social interaction and a nurturing environment through a strong connection to the environment. Other key design considerations were security issues for the at risk youth, separation of private and public program space and sustainable design.
